The risk and difficulty of tunnel construction are greatly affected by geological factors, often accompanied by high pressure water and water rich strata in sandy soil, gravel and gravel, fractured zones and other geological conditions, which are frequent areas of construction problems. The main manifestation is the infiltration of groundwater into the soil silo. Due to the strong fluidity of water, the cohesive soil components between coarse particles in the silo are carried away by the water body, and there is a lack of small particle supplementation, resulting in a decrease in the bonding strength of the slag sample, looseness, higher porosity, reduced self stability, and easy discharge of the screw machine under pressure.

As a new emerging technology in the industry, jelly slurry construction method can effectively cope with the above working conditions. The jelly slurry is a gel elastic slurry with high viscosity and agglomeration in a short time after mixing quantitative high molecular polymer additives into the premixed sodium based bentonite slurry.

The principle of the application of jelly slurry is that the addition of slag can effectively increase viscosity and cohesion, reduce flowability, fill the loss between large particle gaps, and cause the particles to re aggregate, forming a mud (sand) plug. And through the injection and thorough mixing of jelly slurry, soil pressure can be re established to suppress or counteract the infiltration of formation water pressure, block the continuous infiltration channel of groundwater, stabilize the slag discharge inside the screw machine, and thus solve the problems of slag segregation and gushing.

Taking the experiment as an example, we can see that in the case of uneven particle distribution in the original soil, when encountering a large amount of free water, the soil cannot form an effective agglomeration state, which can easily lead to uneven slag discharge during shield tunneling construction.

But after adding and supplementing the jelly slurry, thorough stirring can have a significant effect on absorbing water and coating slag.

When dealing with corresponding geological formations, the amount of jelly slurry added can be controlled to achieve the effect of restoring soil, facilitating slag carrying, and even fully restoring soil stability in extreme risks.

By reasonably preparing the jelly slurry, controlling the injection process and parameters, and combining real-time monitoring and dynamic adjustment, it is possible to effectively prevent the spiral machine from spraying, ensure the smooth slag discharge of the belt conveyor, and guarantee the smooth progress of shield tunneling construction, thereby improving construction efficiency and safety.
